The Brennan Bears won their first district game 44-3 last night against the Holmes Huskies. The Bears took the opening drive for a TD. Jahmyl Jeter got the TD carry. Javon Hopkins picked of an early pass from Holmes to stop a drive. Holmes did a good job eating clock early and was able to kick a field goal to make the game 7-3 early in the 2nd. After the field goal, the next Brennan play went 76 yards on a TD pass from Jordan Flores to Jordan Smith. After another Jeter TD, the Bears forced a punt with 1 minute remaining. The Bears quickly drove the field on a long pass to Smith, this time from Jordan Martinez setting up first and goal from the 1. The Bears pounded in Wedge for the score making it 28-3 at halftime. The first play from scrimmage in the 2nd half, Isaiah Paul forced and recovered a fumble to set up a 1 play drive for the offense. Jeter scored untouched on lead. After that, the Bears forced a 3 and out. The punt block team got a safety to make the score 37-3. Jaylen Bussey chased the punter into the end zone, and Kyle Hamby finished the job tackling the punter in the end zone. Jordan Flores threw another TD pass on a corner route to Darrion Tolefree. That was the final score of the game making it 44-3. The Bears ran out the clock in the 4th quarter.
Stat leaders on Offense.
Jordan Flores was 4-5 with 122 yards and 2 TDs. Jahmyl Jeter had 60 yards on 6 carries. Jordan Smith caught 3 balls for 152 yards and a TD. Smith was also TNL’s Player of the Game.
Stat leaders on Defense:
Christian Corral lead all DB’s in tackles with 11. Javon Hopkins had an INT. At linebacker, Isaiah Paul lead all linebackers with 10 tackles and a forced fumble, and a recovered fumble. Denim Darrensburg had a sack. Brodrick Bates had 8 tackles on the D-Line. Kyle Hamby and Damarques Davis each had a sack. Hamby scored a safety.

The Bears play Brandeis next Friday (10/20/2017) at Farris Stadium at 7:30.
